Statement on Events in the Middle East

The Co-Chairs of the International Federation of Secular Humanistic Jews condemn the violence in Israel and call on both sides for an immediate end to all hostilities. We are in full support of the peace process and believe that compromise and concession by both sides is the only solution to this historical conflict. We hope that the present truce will lead to the revival of peace talks.

We believe in dignity and civil rights for all people. We call on the government of Israel and the Palestinian Authority to take any necessary steps to achieve a peaceful resolution.

The choice is now very clear: either talks and mutual compromise or deterioration to the depths of war and bloodshed.
