Streams into the Sea: Studies in Jewish Culture and Its Content

- Rachel Livneh-Freudenthal and Elchanan Reiner, editors

Streams into the Sea is an unusual new collection of articles authored by some 30 contributors, including very well known Israeli academics, judges, teachers and students. This special collection of articles, essays and literary excerpts deals in its own way with various aspects of Jewish culture. A variety of contexts is represented, from several vantage points - internal or external - and at different periods of time, from its beginnings as a culture until the present day.

The first section contains articles dealing with diverse aspects of the political culture that is taking shape in Israel. The next one presents a selection of articles that examine various representations of Jewish culture from a critical perspective, while the third contains essays that apply to various phenomena relating to general culture, the culture that was and still is a reference point for Jewish culture throughout the ages. The volume concludes with a number of short texts that were created in Alma College's Beit Midrash in Tel-Aviv.
