Judaism for the 21st Century: The Rabbi and the Sociologist
- Nilton Bonder and Bernardo Sorj

Judaism for the 21st Century: The Rabbi and the Sociologist is a compelling conversation on the future of Judaism in the 21st Century, stemming from the friendship between a secular sociologist and a conservative rabbi. They approach the topic from their divergent secular and religious outlooks as well as their common Jewish roots. The authors' common goal is to search for a focus and outlook for Brazilian and global Judaism that includes solidarity, pluralism and tolerance, and recognizes the diversity and specificity of each local Diaspora as a major source of the richness of Jewish heritage.

Topics include a great variety of themes, ranging from the meaning of religious observance to the Middle East conflict; from identity formation to the genome and the Bible; from the contemporary Diaspora to the Ten Commandments; from the dialogue requirements between secular Judaism and the religious on marriage and conversion; to the "virtual Bible" and Brazilian racism.

Available in Portuguese. Will be available in English in 2002
